What’s your message to your community?
First of all, thank you for your support! It’s been such a wild ride as a small business to endure COVID and then to receive such an outpouring of support for our black-owned business; it has been life-changing. I would ask that the community continue to support your local small businesses. In many cases, they’ve had to invest in themselves to support new rules and guidelines so they can provide excellent products and services to you, so please continue to support them, we can all get through this together!
How can the community best support you?
By continuing to share our story and our cookies with neighbors, family and friends around the country! Remember, we ship Nationwide and as a gourmet vegan cookie company, we really do have a sweet treat for everyone.
What has been your creative escape during COVID?
Creating new and innovative flavors that our customers and new fans will love. In fact we just released The Obama cookie which is a delicious triple chip cookie with walnuts. You’ll have to try some.
What has COVID taught you about connection?
Connection is more important that I thought. Over the years, I’ve developed strong connections and healthy relationships with my vendors, suppliers, partners, as well as our customers. I had no idea how much that would mean to me. You see, when I needed to ask for help, everyone answered the call. It was a good reminder that in small business, you should always be kind and give back when you can.
What place in your neighborhood are you excited to get back to? Why?
Lake Miramar. I love being outdoors when exercising! Lately, we’ve been working so hard, that there hasn’t been much time to really enjoy our beautiful San Diego summer weather. But hopefully soon!
If you were to write a book about 2020 so far, what would the title be?
Never a dull moment: The Life and Times of a Small Business in the middle of a Pandemic and Social Justice Revolution
